Working to transform the family justice system and help people find their way through it.

How i got here

I’ve spent years inside the family justice system, first as someone going through separation and divorce myself, and later as an advocate working to change how the system treats the families inside it.

My own path meandered from science to accounting, yet unhappiness persisted. I landed in a finance job that paid well but left me unfulfilled. Eventually, my husband and I realized our unhappiness and tried various solutions, but decided divorce was the only option. We entered the world of Collaborative Divorce, and it transformed how I saw the system, and my place in it.

After our divorce, I trained as a Financial Neutral in Collaborative Divorce, helping other individuals and families get the financial clarity they needed to make the best choices for their future. I only took on Collaborative Divorce files that used a divorce coach because it’s difficult to have equitable, inclusive planning sessions without one, and I wanted the process to actually work the way it was designed to.

What this work looks like

Advocating for structural change to how families move through separation and divorce

Supporting practice groups and professionals working inside the Collaborative Process

Helping individuals understand a system that was never designed to be understood without help

Where I’m involved now

I co-chaired Collaborative Divorce Vancouver from 2020 to 2022, helping steer the Collaborative Divorce Vancouver Society. Alongside our board colleagues, we supported practice group members as they guided families through the Collaborative Process, working toward a future where it’s the first choice for families navigating separation and divorce. I’m now in my fourth year with the Transform the Family Justice System (TFJS) Collaborative in BC, working alongside other advocates on reform.

I’m currently on hiatus from financial coaching. This fall, I’m focusing on the systemic side: what’s broken, what could work better, and how to make the path clearer for the people who come after me.

A financial plan was never supposed to be a restriction. Neither should the system someone has to walk through to rebuild a life. My goal is the same as it’s always been: clarity instead of confusion, and a way forward that’s actually yours.
